The NorthEast Tennessee Master Gardener's are proud to present the Third Annual "From the Roots Up" celebration, in honor of Arbor Day. Hosted by the Town of Jonesborough and the Johnson City Power Board, this event will take place May 10-11, 2014.
On Friday, May 10 the Town of Jonesborough will kick-off the Arbor Day festivities with a tree planting at The McKinney Center at Booker T. Washington School at 10:00am. The event will also sponsor the Music on the Square Concert Series on the evening of May 10 starting at 7pm. The Arbor Day Event will continue on Saturday starting at 9am-4pm with activities and vendors in Downtown Jonesborough at the International Storytelling Center.
A variety of activities have been planned, including Miss Arbor Day Natural Beauty Pageant, Photography Contest, a Pet Parade, numerous seminars and demonstrations, and much more!(see Events page for full details)
In addition to being the Inagural event, this is the first event of its kind in the nation! This celebration will feature trees and their importance to our environment. Vendors will offer numerous trees and plants for sale, and offer advice on placement, care and cultivation. Other questions can be answered by vendors and Master Gardeners alike at the event.
